Jason Carr was a big NASCAR and Indianapolis Colts fan so when he died in a car accident his wife – Shannon Carr – decided to spend $9,600 on a tombstone the shape of a couch. But the reverend at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North Vernon, Indiana, – Jonathan Meyer – is refusing to bury Jason inside his graveyeard.
The tombstone, which is engraved with NASCAR and Indianapolis Colts colors, hasn’t been installed in the cemetery yet because there’s a legal feud going on.
“We have consistently communicated the same message prior to the purchase and after the purchase. We did not think a granite couch was an appropriate monument in our historic cemetery”, the reverend told Fox News. Jason Carr’s family has decided to sue the church on the grounds that they didn’t have any regulation until a year after “they first attempted to install the headstone, writes Gawker.
