Two years ago Reddit user JoDiegoJo began suffering from a severe short-term memory loss after a visit to the ER. She went for a check-up in May 2011 and a nurse administered her “a medication for nausea that reacted with” another one giving her Hypoxia.
She immediately forgot who her husband was and her short-term memory would last no longer than five minutes, Gawker reports.
Fortunately, JoDiegoJo’s best friend was by her side. She took a leave of absence from work, took care of her children and wrote a cheat sheet that helped the woman remember who she was whenever her mind started playing tricks.
The friend jotted down the questions JoDiegoJo would usually ask - Where am I, What’s Wrong With Me – and the answers she wrote treated the woman’s condition with humor (read below).
JoDiegoJo is slowly recovering. In the last two years, she’s been teaching herself “new ways to store information” through tecniques stroke victims are taught.
