Residents of China’s main cities are experiencing breathing problems due to its poor air quality. Top governemnt officials have ordered factories to diminish their emissions amid reports that hospitals have a 30% increase of patients with respiratory issues. As Io9 reports, the yellow in the clouds are indicative of the bad air quality in the region. An air quality index above 300 is considered harmful to humans. On January 12, Beijing’s air quality index, or AQI, peaked at 775.
