WARSAW, POLAND – Antoni Dobrowolski, the oldest known survivor of Auschwitz, died at the age of 108 in a Polish town called Debno. Dobrowolski was one of the many who objected to the Nazi occupiers.

Following the German invasion in 1939 during the Second World War, the Nazis banned anything beyond four years of elementary education so Polish people could not educate themselves any longer, because Germans considered them as slaves and inferior to them. Dobrowolski ended up in prison in June 1942 when he was sent to Auschwitz.

At the age of 103 said: ‘Auschwitz was worse than Dante’s hell’., he was freed in 1945.
