Sarai Sierra, a mother of two with a passion for photography, was found dead in Istanbul on Saturday. According to the Turkish police, the New York City woman was fatally shot to the head and 15 people have been detained for questioning in the case. The 33-year-old mother had left her two children at home on January 7 and was supposed to return on January 21.
Sierra’s body was discovered near Istanbul’s ancient city walls on Saturday. The last time she spoke to her family she told them she would visit Galata Bridge to take photos.
The young mother was an amateur photographer and travelled to Turkey to explore her photography hobby, reports The Associated Press. Police officers suggest Sierra may have been killed at a different location to the one she was found. Sierra’s body may have been brought to the site to be hidden amid the city walls.
