Less than a month after a gang-rape on a Delhi bus, a very similar case of violence on women was reported in Guardaspur district in Punjab. As the CNN reports, a married 29-year-old woman was gang-raped by seven men including the bus driver at an undiclosed location all night long.
The woman boarded the bus and was taken to a location where the bus driver and a friend were joined by five other men. The victim told CNN’s sister station CNN-IBN that she was threatened with a sharp knife knife and was forced to do what they wanted all night long. She was then taken back to her house where she alerted authorities. Police have arrested six men and are tracking down another.
On December 16, a young female student was gang-raped on a Delhi bus by six men. The woman suffered brain damage and had to be flown to Singapore to receive medical treatment. She died thirteen days after the rape and mass protests were staged all across India to protest how women are treated in the country.
