A nine-year-old Australian boy is feared dead after a saltwater crocodile snatched him while he was swimming in a river in northern Australia. According to the Associated Press, the boy was swimming with a group of people in the mouth of a river not far from Darwin when the crocodile grabbed him. The crocodile dragged the young boy “out to deeper water” when the group of people he was swimming with attacked the animal with spears.
Police officers said they are searching for the boy but are pessimistic about the outcome of the search. It’s the second crocodile attack in less than two weeks in Australia’s Northern Territory. A 7-year-old girl was snatched by a crocodile two weeks ago while swimming in a waterhole.
