Asteroid 2012 DA14 will whizz past Earth today. The asteroid will fly by GPS and television satellites and will be the closest a space rock has ever come to hitting the planet, reports NY Daily News. The rock will pass 28,000km above Earth but won’t be visible to the naked eye.
People in Australia and Asia are those who will get the best view of the asteroid with the aid of a telescope. NASA scientists say the asteorid isn’t going to hit Earth, but if it would, the explosion would be 1,000 times more powerful than the Hiroshima atomic bomb.
