A group of students at Oxford University have shown support for a librarian who was fired after it emerged she let students film a Harlem Shake video at St Hilda’s library.
The students have urged University officials to rehabilitate Calypso Nash, a classics student at St Hilda’s College, claiming she wasn’t involved in the making of the clip.
The video was shot on 17 February on the sacked librarian’s watch. It lasts just over 30 seconds and it took only seven minutes to film. Some 30 students danced in fancy dresses. One student was dressed as a Pussy Riot member. The organisers have been fined £50 ($75).
Ellen Gibson, a St. Hilda’s student, said: “The situation seems ridiculous. The librarian had nothing to do with the protest; she just happened to be there at the time.”
