A South African angler was fined for posing with a great shark he had killed moments before. As The Mirror reports, Leon Bekker was fined £8,500 for killing the endangered shark and taking a snap of him by its side. Bekker was the first person in 20 years in South Africa to be prosecuted for killing the predator. Great whites are a protected species in South Africa and Bekker was found guilty of “hunting and killing” them. Bekker told Mossel Bay magistrates he had hunted and killed sharks before.
