ISLAMABAD (PAKISTAN) – The powerful 7.7 earthquake that hit Pakistan created a new island off the country’s southern coast on Wednesday. The island rose from the sea after destryoing hundreds of homes in the region of Awaran and the Kech district. The isalnd is said to be 100 feet high and 200 feet wide.
As Emirates247 reports, the island shouldered its way out of the water after the deadly earthquake killed more than 300 people. Most of the razed buildings were made of mud. Rafiq Lassi, a police offire for the Awaran district said: “ A large number of houses have collapsed in the area and we fear the death toll may rise.”
