ROME, Italy - Thousands of Harley-Davidson bikers will be blessed by Pope Francis I on Sunday. Some 40,000 bikers arrived in Rome to celebrate the motorbike’s 110th anniversary.
The four-day meeting from June 13 to June 16 will end in St.Peter’s Square where the pontiff will give the “Blessing of the Motorbikes”. Ken Ostermann, Harely Davidson,’s international marketing manager, said the blessing was arranged with former pontiff Benedict XVI last year.
On June 14, a parade will begin from the port town of Ostia and finish in the center of Rome. Over the four days, the event is expected to draw more than 500,000 people. A ‘Harley Village’ has been set up in Ostia.
