NEW YORK – Maggie Meier suffered a seizure and went into a coma in 2008. She spent two and-a-half months in a coma due to a swelling in her brain called mycoplasma meningoencephalitis. She was dehospitalized after 100 days but during her coma she was still able to shoot the basket.
Off and on for the two-and-a-half months she was in the coma, Meier’s family would move her into a chair and give her a beach ball to shoot through a makeshift hoop. She would practice for several minutes before returning to her comatose state. Now nearly fully recovered, Meier says she has absolutely no memory of playing.Source:
