A police dog accidentally ate a man’s hamster by knocking over its cage during a raid
The hamster’s owner 46 year-old Musa Khan has his house searched by the police in Greater Manchester. The dog accidentally knocked over its cage and the hamster escaped, then the dog chased it and ate it. Later on the dog was forced to cough it up, but the animal died.
Other animals were found in the house, like a parakeet that was missing a lot of feathers. This is what defence lawyer Tim Hughes said: “Khan accepts keeping the bird in a cage that’s close to a radiator and TV in a room where an old cat has been.”
Mark Harper, prosecuting, added: ‘The bird was in poor bodily condition and had lost feathers. It could have been avoided with a regular cleaning regime.’
