Esteban J. Smith, an active-duty marine, has been identified as the man suspected of going on a shooting spree in West Texas that killed a 41-year-old woman.
Smith injured five people and killed one with an assault rifle early Sunday morning. He drove around two counties some 250 miles southwest of Dallas, Texas, shooting at random from the back of his pick-up truck.
He injured five people during his spree and killed a 41-year-old woman named Alicia Torres.
Before being fatally shot in a shootout on a highway , Smith, 23, was wanted in connection with the stabbing of his wife in a motel room in Jacksonville, N.C. Rubi Stefania Smith of Bakersfiel, Cal., was found dead on Sunday.
Smith was based at the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina.
