Seven people are still missing in northern Texas where at least 16 twisters battered the area for seven hours on Wednesday.

Locals in Granbury, a city 30 miles from Fort Worth, have begun a massive cleanup of the area as authorities are continuing the search for the missing people.

Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds said: “We’re going to keep on looking…We’re not going to give up until every piece of debris is turned over.”

Six people have been confirmed dead. The victims lived all in the same neighborhood and most of the buildings were built by the same company.

They have been identified as Jose Tovar Alvare, 34: Marjari Davis, 82; Tommy Martin, 61; Leo Stefanski, 83; and Robert and Glenda Whitehead, reports CNN.com.

Power won’t be restored in the area for the next three weeks.

Aki Peritz, a former CIA official, believes that the amounts of cash found inside Mr. Fogle’s backpack may hint that the whole operation was set up. “Moscow is the toughest, most saturated counter-intelligence environment in the world,” said Peritz. “It doesn’t feel right that he’s carrying wigs, a bundle of money, a compass, two pairs of sunglasses – at night – and a letter that screams ‘I’m a spy’”

Moreover, an article written by Max Fisher for The Washington Post, claims that the letter found inside Mr. Fogle’s bag was written in an “almost childlike prose.” The sort of letter your email account would classify as spam. In the letter, the alleged spy was hoping to recruit a Russian official with a $1m a year reward. The Washington Post writes:

The plan comes across as a bit rudimentary for the world’s premier spy agency – it explains how to set up a Gmail account – and the instructions include nothing about what information or “expertise” the source is meant to supply. Most suspicious is the risk inherent in typing up such self-incriminating information in an otherwise bland letter, when this could have been easily communicated over the phone or in person.

Mark Galeotti, an espionage expert working at New York University, says Mr Fogle really is a CIA agent but a low-level operative and Russian authorities nabbed him beause of a “political decision made at or near the top.”

However, a Russian daily called Kommersant, which has close ties with the Russian Federal Security Service, or FSB, claims that Fogle was arrested as he was trying to gather information in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. As The Telegrpah reports, Mr Fogle was seeking information on the Tsarnaev borthers and their ties in the Dagestan region.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the 26-year-old bomber who died in a shootout with the police a week after the twin blasts, had been to the region in 2012. It is possible that US authorities were looking into the contacts he had with the local Islamist group.  US authorities have been in the region in April and during the trip it is likely they “obtained the phone numbers of (Russian) Federal Security Service (FSB) agents,” claims Kommersant.

Still, the amount of money the arrested agent was offering was “unusually high.” ”The CIA needed the (Russian) anti-terror agent after the terror attack in the Boston Marathon,” said Komemersant.

A Texas high school teacher was arrested and charged for allegeldy having a sexual relationship with two students. 

Marlena Mints, who has been with Cedar Hill ISD since 2006, was put on administrative leave after a fellow coach told the police the teacher was having a sexual relationship with an eighth grader. According to the arrest warrant, the coach learnt about the relationship after he heard the 13-year-old student boasting about it.

As Dfw.cbslocal.com reports, the young student exchanged texts with the teacher. In one of them he wrote that he was having problems with his penis and Mints replied saying she would have to have a look at it to see what was wrong. The young student told police officers he believes the teacher is a “cougar”. He also said Mints would let him touch her breasts and buttocks while alone in a classroom.

The 13-year-old added he wasn’t the only one the teacher would perform oral sex on. Another student exchanged texts with the teacher. According to the arrest warrant, Mints picked up the student and drove him to her home where she performed oral sex on him, reports Dfw.cbslocal.com.

Mints has been charged with one count of aggravated assault of a child and two counts of improper relationship.

The three women found alive in a Cleveland home after 10 years led a lonely life and were allowed outside the home only a couple of times.

Investigators are searching the ‘house of horrors’ in an attempt to get clues that may reveal how Ariel Castro, the man charged with the abduction of three women, was able to keep his victims under sugh tight control for so long.

Ariel Castro, 52, was charged on Wednesday with four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape for keeping Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight in his home for 10 years.

The former school bus driver will appear in court Thursday morning. Castro’s two brothers, Pedro and Onil, haven’t been charged due to lack of evidence after the three women’s hearings.

“Ariel kept everyone at a distance,” said Deputy Police Chief Ed Tomba.  A number of miscarriages have also been reported. “We know that the victims have confirmed miscarriages, but with who, how many and what condition we don’t know,” said City Councilman Brian Cummins.

Michelle Knight reportedly told officials she miscarried five times. According to report, Ariel Castro would punch her in the stomach and “make her abort the baby.”  Michelle Knight was abucted in 2002 when she was 21. Amanda Berry was kidnapped on the eve of her 17th birthday in 2003 while Gina DeJesus was reported missing in 2004.

According to the report, Michelle helped Amanda deliver Jocelyn as the 52-year-old former school bus driver was watching them. Knight even had to give the newborn the ‘kiss of life’ because she had stopped breathing.

Knight told officers Ariel would kill her if she let Amanda’s daughter die.  So Knight performed CPR on Jocelyn who is now six years old to save the life of both of them. After giving the newborn the ‘kiss of life’, Michelle was ordered to clean up the mess.

Ariel Castro, 52, and his two brothers Pedro and Onil were arrested on Monday after Amanda Berry managed to escape from the home she was held captive for 10 years and call 911 from her neighbor’s home. On Wednesday, officials charged Castro with four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape for holding captive Amanda Berry, 27, Gina Dejesus, 23, and Michelle Knight, 32 in his home.

According to various reports, Castro woud celebrate the girl’s ‘abduction days’ every year instaed of their birthdays. Castro would give them a cake. During their first years of their captivity, the sick bus driver kept the three girls chained up in the basement but then let them live with him on the second floor of the house, reports The Daily Mail.

It has also emerged that Berry escaped from the ‘house of horrors’ after Castro forgot to lock the ‘big inside door.’ At first, Amanda thought Ariel was testing her so she didn’t storm out of the building. Instead, she mangaed to catch the attention of her neighbor Charles Ramsey who rescued her and called 911.

A colonel who ran the Air Force’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office was arrested and charged with sexual battery Saturday evening.

Lt. Col. Jeff Krusinski was in a D.C. suburb over the weekend when he approached a female in a parking lot. According to a report filed with the Arlington Police Department, the lieutenant colonel was drunk when he grabbed a female’s “breasts and buttocks”. 

As ABC News reports, the victim freed herself from the man’s hold and contacted the police. Krusinski, 41, was arrested and removed from his position shortly after he was arrested. Protect Our Defenders, one of the groups investigating sexual abuse in the military said: “If these allegations are true, this is on more example on a long list of how fundamentally broken the military justice system and culture are.”

The 41-year-old suspect was arrested in Alrington, Va., and charged with sexual battery. He was in charge of the Air Force’s five-person sexual assault prevention branch. “He worked on prevention programs for sexual assault,” said Air Forse spokeswoman Ann Stefanek.

A 6-year-old sister is in critical condition at a Florida hospital after her 13-year-old brother shot her in the chest Saturday afternoon.

The two siblings had been left on their own in the residence in the 5900 block of Northeast Second Terrace in Oakland Park, Fla., when their neighbor Justin Latourrette heard a gunshot around 7 p.m. Mr Latourette said the siblings were unsupervised when he heard the “loud boom.” He said the girl had a hole in her chest when doctors rushed her to a local hospital:

Her shirt was bloody, and you could see through a piece of gauze that she had a hole in her chest above the heart…Her eyes were wide open in a blank stare, like she was in shock. I’ll never forget that look.

The girl is in Broward Health Medical Center where doctors say she’s in critical but stable condition.

Ariel Castro, 52, is former school bus driver at a Cleveland school. He’s the owner of the home where Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were found on Monday afternoon. Castro’s brothers, aged 50 and 54, were also arrested in connection with the kidnapping.

Castro was arrested at a nearby McDonald’s after Amanda Berry called 911 from a neighbor’s home. On his Facebook page, Castro says he’s a musician and a bass player.

Anthony Castro, the suspect’s s son, studied journalism at BGSU and wrote a piece about the disappeareance of the three women in 2004.  The son was interviewed by Wkyc.com and said: “This is beyond comprehension…I’m truly stunned right now”.

Amanda Berry was kidnapped on the eve of her 17th birthday in 2003. She was kidnapped after accepting a ride home after she had finished her shift at a Burger King.  Georgina DeJesus disappeared in 2004 at the age of 14. She was walking home from her middle school when she was kidnapped. Michele Knight went missing in 2003 at 21. She went missing after leaving her cousin’s home.

All three girls were found in an area not far from where they were last seen.

On Monday afternoon, Amanda Berry was in a house on Seymore avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, when her neighbor saw her trying to get out. Charles Ramsey came outside and helped her get out of the house. He then let her call 911 from his home after Amanda told him that she was the girl who went missing ten years ago.

In the frantic call Amanda made to the police, the missing woman said: “Help me, I am Amanda Berry,” she said. “I’ve been kidnapped and I’ve been missing for 10 years.” Berry had a young child with her, possibley four or five years old, when she left the house.

Authorities have arrested the owner of the house where the three women were found. Ariel Castro, 52, a former bus driver is the prime suspect in the adbuction of the three women. Two other suspects, aged 50 and 54, who are believed to be Ariel’s brothers have been arrested.

Berry’s neighbor said he knew the suspect and never flagged hims as somebody suspicious. “We see this dude every day. I’ve been here a year. I babrbecued with this dude. We eat ribs and listen to slasa music,” he said.

White suprematist Charles Francis Gaskins was sentenced to life in prison for murder of Neil Hayes. 

The white suprematist was sentenced for 26-years-to-life for killing 66-year-old Neil Hayes with a stone in the garage of his wife’s house in 2009.

Gaskins, 48, became a member of the white suprematist group “Peckerwoods” during a previous stay in prison. As a Peckerwood, his task was to injure or kill a person who had molested children and he found his victim in Hayes whom he had met while at Deuel Vocation Institution, reports Latinospost.com.

At the time the two men were friends, and Hayes contacted Gaskins asking hims if he could put him up after he had gotten out of prison. Hayes, 66, was invited to stay at Gaskins’ wife’s home in Carmichael, Fla., unaware of  his past offences.

Sandra Sheaves, 43, – Gaskin’s wife – found out about Hayes’ predilection for minors during a search on Megan’s Law Web site and passed the information on to her husband. On June 20 2009, Gaskins smashed the 66-year-old child molester’s skull with a rock in the garage of his wife’s home.

Gaskin and Sheaves then loaded the dead body into the trunk of a vehicle and disposed of it on the side of the road near Placerville. Sheaves will be released form prison in 66 days.

Nerizo Fojas and eight of her friends were in a limo headed across San Francisco Bay on Saturday night when it caught fire. Four friends plus the driver escaped the blaze but the 31-year-old and four other friends didn’t and died at the scene.

Roxanne Guzman, a witness who was crossing the San Mateo Bridge in her car around 10 p.m., said: “The flames were so big and radiating so much heat that I could feel the heat off of my face, and I was in my car the entire time.”

Fojas and her eight friends were headed to a bachelorette party when smoke started coming out of the back of the vehicle owned by the company LimoStop Inc.. Fojas, a 31-year-old nurse, was supposed to get married in June in the Philippines. Lovela Nicholas, the woman’s sister-in-law, told CNN: “”Neriza was getting married, going to Philippines to get married there and have ceremony there and the reception.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The driver was uninjured in the blaze but the four women who survived the blaze were taken to hospital where they are being treated for smoke inhalation.

LimoStop Inc., the company that owned the white Lincoln, issued a statement following the incident. It said: “LimoStop Inc. will do everything possible to investigate and assist authorities in determining the cause of this fire in order to help bring forth answers and provide closure to the victims and their families.”

A teenager is in juvenile detention after the soccer referee he punched in the face during recreational match in Salt Lake City has died. 

Ricardo Portillo, a 46-year-old referee for a recreational soccer league, was refereeing a game in Taylorsville, a suburb in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 27 when he showed a teenager a yellow card. After being shown the yellow card, the 17-year-old turned around and punched the referee in the face, reports Cnn.com.

The referee was taken to hospital where doctors found that he had suffered several serious internal injuries. For almost a week, Mr Portillo remained in hospital in critical condition before he died on Saturday. Johanna Portillo, the referee’s daughter, said her father loved soccer and “never thought this was going to happen.” 

The teenager, whose identity hasn’t been released, is in juvenile detention and has been charged with aggravated assault.

The incident occurred during a game of the Hispanic soccer league called Fut International. Boys aged between 5 and 17 take part in the event.

Police have launched an investigation after posters in support of 19-year-old suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev appeared on the wall of underpasses in Chechnya’s capital, Grozny, and in Kazakhstan. The posters are urging people to donate money to assist with medical and legal costs. Payments would be made via the Russian online payment system Qiwi Wallet.

Police are seeking the perpetrators who will be liable for charges of damaging public property. The posters claim Dzokhar is innocent and is a victim of “groundless accusation”. They also read:

Dzhokhar’s parents ask you for help, to collect money for their son, whom they cannot lose, as they have already lost the older son, cruelly, unjustly.

Groups supporting Dzokhar have emerged on social networks. A group on Facebook supporting the young suspect has more than 7,000 fans. “For the Tsarnaev brothers” a fan-page on the Russian social network VKontakte, has enlisted 8,000 followers.

A petition on the White House’s website urging US authorities to release the young suspect has been signed by more than 5,000 people. The petition was launched on April 26 and needs to garner 100,000 signatures in 30 days in order to be officially acknowledged by the US President.

A high school teacher has been charged with object rape after allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old female student.

Gaile Kristine Supp, 24, a teacher at Clearfield High School at West Haven, Utah, is accused of molesting a female student after she convinced her to go over to her home on Jan. 14. The teacher told her she needed help with school work.

After they got home, Supp put on a porn movie and forced herself on the young student. As NY Daily News reports, the young female student rejected the teacher’s advances. Supp was arrested and held on $20,000 bail.

The teacher was released from Weber County Jail on Monday.

The 25-year-old faces re-trial after Italy’s highest court re-opened the case in March. Knox doesn’t have to attend the hearings.

Two deaf and mute parents have been charged with the murder of their 5-month-old daughter. 

Hector Rene Cupich-Wuinones, 35, and Maria Guadalupe Zuniga, 37, of Richardson, Texas, are accused of killing their daughter after a late-night fight. The couple reportedly got into a fight on Sunday night after drinking heavily. Police were called to the scene where the father, Mr . Cupich-Wuinones, told officers he had found their baby lying on the living room floor around 3:30 a.m..

In the first interview, the 35-year-old father said he had gotten up to get a drink of water when he found his daughter on the floor. But another deaf man living with the couple, Charles Niel, said police officers should search the backyard too where empty cans of beer and bottles of whiskey were found.

The police report said: “Niel pointed at the couple and then put his hand to his mouth indicating they had been drinking.”

ABC News reports that the couple had gotten into a fight “over the child crying” while intoxicated. Mr. Cupich-Wuinones, 35, reportedly tried to give the daughter to Zuniga. The woman refused so Cupich-Wuinones allegedly “hit the back of the child’s head on the kitchen counter at least three times,” says the police report. The baby was then handed to Zuniga who put her to bed.

They woke up again around 3:30 a.m. fighting over who was to blame for the baby’s injuries. Police were called two hours later and Hector Cupich Quinones admitted he was responsible for the murder. Quinones was charged with murder while Zuniga was arrested and charged with injury to a child.

The baby died at a local hospital.

A 47-year-old father claims he has eaten more than 5,000 species of insects since changing his eating habits in 2001. 

David Gracer is an English teacher from Providence, Rhode Island, who changed his diet 11 years ago when he started bug-hunting in the undergrowth. The married man appeared on the Wednesday night episode of TLC’s ‘My Crazy Obsession’ hunts for insects in the undergrowth and then kills them “via a freezing-method,” reports The Daily Mail.

Mr Gracer then stores his preys in a freezer in his basement. His favourite bugs are fly pupa, cockraches and scorpions.

“I get told that I’m crazy, or sick, or weirdm and I mean that’s what it is to be in an unpopular position,” says Mr. Gracer. But he also argues that eating insects isn’t as crazy as some people say. “Bugs as long as they’re in the ocean – crabs, shrimps and lobster – are just fine and people can spend quite a bit of money for them, whereas bugs on the land, suddenly it’s all ewww.”

People who eat bugs are known as entomophagists. More than half the world’s population eat insects.

A five-year-old boy from Kentucky killed his two-year-old sister with a loaded gun the parents had bought him last year. 

Caroline Starks, was fatally shot by her brother who was playing with a .22 caliber-rifle at his parents’ home in Cumberland County, Kentucky, shortly after 1pm on Tuesday. The boy’s mother was at home when the young boy got hold of the weapon and fired the only shell that was in it.

The girl was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Coroner Gary White said the gun used was made by Crickett. “It’s a little rilfe for a kid [that] the boy’s used to shooting the girl,” said Mr White.

A US citizen has been sentenced to 15 years of hard labour in North Korea. 

Kenneth Bae, also known as Pae Jun-Ho, was arrested in North Korea in November 2012 presumably because he was taking photos of malnourished children. The US citizen of Korean descent, believed to be a tour operator, was arrested shortly after entering North Korea from the Chinese city of Rason.

The young man was tried on April 30 and sentenced to compulsory labour after pleading guilty to a number of charges. North Korean authorities even accused him of overthrowing the government. “The Supreme Court sentenced him to 15 years of compulsory labour for this crime,” KCNA said.

US officials have already contacted North Korean authorities and are urging them to release the suspect. “We call on the DPRK [North Korea] to release Kenneth Bae immediately on humanitarian grounds,” US State Department spokeman Patrick Vernell was quoted as saying.

Two 19-year-old students native of Kazakhstan, and a student native of Massachusetts were charged in connection with the Boston bombing that killed three and injured more than 200 on April 15. Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakova, both 19, were arrested and charged with removing items from Dzokhar Tsarnaev‘s bedroom after the terrorist attack. Robel Phillipos, of Cambridge, Mass., was charged with making false statements to investigators.

The two students of Kazakh origin allegedly went into Tsarnaev’s bedroom to remove a laptop, a backpack and some Vaseline, reports Fox News. The affidavit claims Kadyrbayev “decided to remove the backpack from the room in order to help his friend Tsarnaev avoid trouble.”

The three students acted on April 18 hours after footage of the 19-year-old student accused of placing a pressure cooker bomb at the finish line of the Boston Marathon was released. Tsarnaev was texted by one of his friends saying the person in the video looked like him. The suspect’s response was: “Lol, You better not text me.”

The two students of Kazakh origin could be sentenced to five years in prison. Phillipos could be sentenced to eight years. All three suspects could also be fined $250,000.

A high school English teacher was arrested after naked pics of the 27-year-old woman were found on the phone of a 17-year-old student. 

Cara Alexander, 27, reportedly sent the saucy snaps to the young student and was arrested after the boy’s mother reported to authorities that she had found the naked pics on her son’s mobile phone. The teacher from Newport News, Virginia, has also been accused by the student’s mother of having a relationship with her son.

The high school student attended the same school Alexander used to teach at.

The high school teacher was suspended by Newport News Public Schools after being arrested but authoritis pointed out they’ve collected no evidence that confrims the mother’s allegations. Alexander was arrested on Friday and charged with six counts of felony use of a communications system.

The 27-year-old teacher was hired by the school in August 2010 after joining the institute in January of 2009.

Jason Collins is the first American athlete in a major professional sport to admit he’s gay

The NBA center has played professional basketball for 12 seasons wrote in an article that appeared on ESPN: “I am a 34-year-old center. I’m black. And I’m gay”

Collins is a free agent who has played with the Washington Wizards and the Boston Celtics in the 2012-13. During his career he was on the roster of six NBA teams. He made the trip to the playoffs nine times and played in two finals. Collins wrote:

I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn’t the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, ‘I’m different.’ If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I’m raising my hand.

Collins said he first thought about coming out during the 2011 NBA lockout:

Why am I coming out now? Well, I started thinking about this in 2011 during the NBA player lockout. I’m a creature of routine. When the regular season ends I immediately dedicate myself to getting game ready for the opener of the next campaign in the fall. According to USA Today, investigators still have to determine whose DNA it is and ther could be multiple explanations to the finding. The prime suspect seems to be Katherine Russell Tsarnaeva, the widow of Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, whose DNA samples were taken early Monday. But investigators pointed out that the DNA found on the bomb could belong to a store clerk.

FBI agents will compare the genetic material recovered. Special Agent Jason Pack, a spokesman for the FBI, said: “The FBI is there as part of our ongoing investigation, but we aren’t permitted to discuss specific aspects of our case.”

Russell Tsarnaeva converted to Islam after meeting Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The couple married three years ago and gave birth to her daughter. The young woman works as a home health aide. Tamerlan died in a shootout with the Boston police on April 19.

Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was put under investigation in the spring of 2011 after Russian authorities recorded a call with his mother Zubeidat Tsarnaeva. The 26-year-old was heard discussing the possibility of going to the Palestinian territories. During the conversation he said he wouldn’t travel to Palestine because he didn’t speak Arabic.

As the AP reports, the Russian Federal Security Service, or FSB, informed the FBI and the CIA about the recording and asked them to investigate Tamerlan. US authorities dropped the investigation in June 2011 after a few months because the information they gathered on the suspect was “scant.” 

Newsday reports that the conversation between Tamerlan and his mother was “nonspecific” when they discussed the concept of jihad. However, a source said text messages were found in which Tsarnaeva hinted that “Tamerlan was ready to die for Islam.”

Two-thirs of the 166 detainees at the US prison camp in Guantanamo Bay are on a hunger strike after guards carried out a raid on April 13 aimed at restoring order on Camp Six, reports CBS News. Guards said the raid was intended to remove obstructions that were preventing them from monitoring activities inside the prison camp. Rubber bullets wer fired and a lockdown was imposed following the raid.

Younous Chekkouri, 44, a Moroccan detainee was quoted by CBS News as saying:

“The guards came in, closed all of our cells…[removed us from our cells and] told us to get on the ground,” Chekkouri said, according to notes of the conversation provided to CBS News. “We lay there on our belly for three hours or more.”

The hunger strike started in February 2013 after guards confiscated personal items and searched Korans of the detainees. Of those on hunger strike, more than 20 have had to be force fed and five others have been taken to the Guantanamo Bay hospital. Lt. Col. Samuel House said: “The detainees in the hospital do not currently have any life-threatening conditions.”

In the camp more than 86 detainees have been granted transfer to another location. However, no detainees have been freed since 2010. Guantanamo Bay has only six “high value” detainees. They are suspected of taking part in the September 11, 2001 attacks or the October 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen.

The piece of the aircraft was found wedged between 51 Park Place and a luxury building at 50 Murray St, reports the New York Post. The landing gear, which is 17 inches wide, was found between the two buildings – which are only 18 inches apart – with a rope tied around it. Another rope was found on top of one of the buildings, arousing suspicion somebody might have lowered the item.

Moreover, no marks were found on either wall of the two buildings.

NYPD Comissioner Ray Kelly was quoted as saying:

We are also looking at the possibility that it was lowered by a rope…We are not ruling it out… there’s a rope that is intertwined in the part itself.

The area between the two buildings is now a crime scene and the landing gear will remain there until tests are conducted on it. According to the NY Daily News, the serial number on the wreckage confirms the landing gear belonged to one of the aircrafts that crashed into the Twin Towers.

The 9/11 terrorist attack was the worst in American history killing 2,753 people.

Following the discovery, Sharif el Gamal, chairman and CEO of real estate investment group SOHO and the owner of 51 Park Place, distanced himself from the words his lawyer – Adam Leitman Bailey – said. The lawyer claimed the item was put there by opponents to the “Ground Zero Mosque” that will be built on the top of the 15- story building.

“I think this is a prank, and there’s no way this all of a sudden showed up. It’s hard to believe they now have found evidence that wasn’t put there recently,” Mr. Leitman Bailey said.

The property developer issued a statement in which he said:

Adam Leitman Bailey has no authority to speak on behalf of Sharif El-Gamal, Soho Properties or Park51

The project El Gamal wants to develop at 51 Park Place is a community center for Muslims and a mosque.

The mosque will have a “commanding view of the entire Ground Zero neighborhood” and Imam Rauf was supposed to run it. He is known for embracing Sharia, which is the Arabic word for Islamic law. Under the rule of Sharia, the Koran is above all man-made laws and Islamic countries ruled by such principle are known for discriminating women and gays as well as ethnic and religious minorities.

Rauf was replaced by Imam Abdallah Adhami as the man in charge of raising money for Park 51 in January 2011.

In July 2009, 45 Park Place – a former Burlington Coat Factory outlet – was bought by the Cordoba Initiative led by Imam Feisa Abdul Rauf and his wife Daisy Khan. NYC’s Muslim community seems to have been having worship services in the building since December 2009.

The center was later named Cordoba House after the Great Mosque of Cordoba built in Spain during the Islamic Occupation. 45 Park Place is 600 feet away from Ground Zero and a piece of landing gear crashed through the building’s roof the day of the attack.

Park51 project would include the 45-47 and 51 parcels.

The body of a student who was wrongly accused of being a Boston Marathon bomber was found in the Providence River in Boston on Thursday.

The body of Brown University student Sunil Tripathi, who went missing last month, was pulled from Providence Harbor, Rhode Island, on Thursday.

The body was taken by a forensic team to determine the cause of the 22-year-old’s death.  The search for Tripathi began in March when his sister Sangeeta found his wallet and other personal belongings in his apartment not far from campus.

The Guardian reports:

Last week, speculation swirled on Twitter and the website Reddit that Tripathi was the second of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings because some thought he resembled one of the people in photos released by the FBI. That person turned out to be 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, authorities said.

Reddit later apologized to Tripathi’s family for fueling “online witch hunts and dangerous speculation which spiraled into very negative consequences for innocent parties.”

Tripathi’s body was pulled from  the Providence River in Boston after it had been there for “some time.”

A 33-year-old Brooklyn high school teacher was arrested outside her home in Queens on Thursday and charged with rape of a 15-year-old student.

Evelyn Rogers was arrested after admitting she had sex with a student at school last year. The couple met last year at the high school for Innovation in Advertising and Media in Canarsie and started a relationship that  lasted until August 2012.

Richard Condon, the Special Commissioner of Investigation, was quoted by the New York Post as saying:

We went out and we interviewed the teacher and we interviewed the student. Both told us that they had been having sexual intercourse going back to August of last year. We conferred with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office and they told us to arrest her.

The teacher was arrested and suspended from her job after investigators were tipped off. Rogers and the student, whose identity hasn’t been revelaed, have admitted to having sex in mutiple occasions at an unindisclosed location, reports the Ny Post.

The explosive the two brothers would have used was detonated during their tense standoff with the Boston police. In the shootout in the town of Watertown, 26-year-old Tamerlan was killed but Dzokhar managed to escape. He was found the following day inside a boat of a Watertown resident.

19-year-old Dzokhar had visited New York two times before he was arrested in Watertown, Mass., last Friday. The New York Post writes that he was in New York on April 18 2012 and in November 2012. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said: “We don’t know if the visits were related in anyway to the brothers’ decision to target Times Square.”

Previous reports hinted that the brothers had been heard saying: “Manhattan” whilst speaking to each other in a Russian dialect the night of the standoff. But investigator played down those allegations claiming the man who’d heard them got confused.

The man who found Dzokhar Tsarnaev has turned down donations for a new boat. 

David Henneberry, the man who found Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev hiding in his boat, doesn’t want donations for a new pleasure cruiser. Instead, he wants donors to give the money to the victims of the attack. “It makes me feel wonderful that people are thinking that,” Henneberry said. “[But] people lost lives and lost limbs. I’d rather [the money] go to the One Fund Boston.”

The day the 19-year-old Boston bomber suspect was on the loose, the owner of the 22-foot Sea Haw pleasure cruiser was out for a smoke in his backyard when he saw a loose strap on the tarp covering his boat Slip Away II , writes Yahoo News. He went in the boat and found Dzokhar lying on the floor not far from the engine block.

Authorities arrived immediately, surrounded the boat and arrested the young suspect after a chase that lasted a day. “I couldn’t see his face,” Henneberry said. “I’m glad I didn’t see his face. He didn’t move.” Dzokhar was taken to Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center where docotrs are treating his gunshot wounds.

The terrorist’s younger brother, Dzokhar, is recovering in hospital from injuries he self-inflicted before being arrested. Three people died in two blasts near the Boston Marathon finish line on April 15. More than 200 people were injured in the blasts.

According to people familiar with the matter, the former school teacher was taken into custody Saturday night and, as of Monday night, he still hasn’t been extradited to the United States.

School officials at Beauvoir Elementary school issued a statement following news of the arrest. “We comment the word of the Office of the U.S. Attorney and the FBI for their ongoing efforts to apprehen Mr. Toth,” said the statement. “They have been tenacious and resolute in their quest to bring this case to justice.”

Toth became America’s most wanted man after the death of Osama Bin Laden. As The Washington Post reports, the 31-year-old teacher was wanted on charges of child pornography and is accused of installing a video camera in the bathroom of his third-grade students.

Parents of chidlren who attended Beauvoir elementary school, the teacher would give special attention to their children in “unusual ways.” He would babysit when the children’s parents were away and would even spend the night at their houses. Toth was born in Fairfax County and grew up in Indiana.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston marathon bombing suspect arrested Saturday, may have inflicted himself a gunshot wound to the throat wound before officers caught him. Authorities feared he may never have been able to speak again and not respond to their questions, but reports claim he’s responding to investigators in writing.

Dzokhar has been asked whether there were other cell members that took part in the Boston bombings. It is claimed that Dzokhar and his brother Tamerlan were preparing for “further attacks” when they were found.

Edward Davis, the Boston police commissioner, said: “It’s my belief that they were already manufacturing explosive devices. Further violent acts were inevitable.”  Three people were killed and more than 180 were injured in the bomb blast at the Boston marathon last week. The victims were a Chinese student called Lu Lingzi, Krystle Campbell and 8-year-old Martin Richard.

Dzokhar, 19, will face trial and prosecutors could charge him with using weapons of mass destruction. If found guilty, the young MIT student could be sentenced to death.

He flew out of Boston the following morning hoping his life would get back to normal with his wife Amy and their two children aged 8 and 11. But on Wednesday he was on his way home on Interstate 35 near Waco when he saw a cloud of black smoke coming from the gas fertilizer plant in West.

He stopped, took a picture of the thick black cloud and then drove off. “My next reaction was to get out of there because something fell on top of my car – some debris or something fell from the sky,” he said. As the AP reports, he was able to contact his wife Amy.

“We need to keep him moving. Maybe he just needs to stand in an open field,” she said.

Police said in a statement the two men were suspected of killing a police officer on campus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) late on Thursday. They then stole a car at gunpoint and drove away with the car’s owner still on board. They later released the driver unharmed.

One of the suspects, identified as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26., was taken into custody and pronounced dead at hopital. Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19, is “Suspect Two”, and still at large in the Watertown area. Police officers have warned residents in the area to remain indoors. Both suspects are from the Russian region of Chechnya and have lived in the U.S. for a year. The Dail Mail is reporting that they are brothers.

The MIT police officer died from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital around 1:30 AM. The suspect arrived at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds following a shootout and burns from a blast. According to Rt.com, one of the suspects – a dark skinned white male – is responsible for the killing.

The two suspects were cornered in the Watertown area and confronted the police with guns and explosives after the chase. One of the suspect was caught following the confrontation while another one remains on the loose, reports the Boston Globe.

Meanwhile, the Boston police are setting up a 20-block perimeter in the search for the remaning suspect. An FBI spokesman who spoke on condition of anonymity said: ” We are aware of the situation, we are being involved, and we are monitoring.”

According to NBC news, a pressure cooker was found at the crime scene. WHDH has confirmed that the Boston Marathon suspects are the responible for the shooting, and that one is dead. The suspect still at large is believed to be in a house on Quimby street.

Still, she was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors determined that she “did not have any medical diagnosis,” reports NY Daily News. The deputy who responded to the call later found out that the woman had called 911 five times over the past eight days.  The Florida woman was arrested and charged with abuse of emergency service.

Deputy Public Defeder Frank Bittar told the court Kieu had a difficult childhood in Vietnam. She was even raped by her older brother, which left her mentally scared. Kieu is charged with “aggravated mayhem” and could face life in prison if found guilty.

Investigators now are going through cell phone logs to determine who made calls from that location near the time of the explosions. Sources say the FBI is working with a list of names of cell phone owners and attempting to match one of those to the unknown man on the surveillance

Sources say forensic experts tape will attempt to use facial recognition software and compare the images from the surveillance camera to photo IDs connected to known cell phone users. Officials say so far they have not identified that mystery man and they’re not yet calling him a suspect.

In the surveillance video, the medium built man is wearing a black jacket and a white baseball cap backwards. Initially authorities investigating the attack thought about releasing the picture of the suspect but are holding back says CBS News corrispondent John Miller:

“It’s been a tough call,” said Miller. “For investigators, there’s always a difficult choice because if the person doesn’t know you’re looking for him, he may stay in place, you may catch up to him. if he does know you’re looking for him, he may run. On the other hand, if you don’t get him, it’s always great to enlist 20 million or so more eyes in the public who may be able to give you a location right away. That’s not going to happen tonight anymore. It was going to happen earlier — they’ve rethought that. It may happen with the release of that picture tomorrow. They’re reassessing.

West Mayor Tommy Muska said the blast is “the most devastating thing” his community has ever witnessed. He said: “”We need your prayers. There’s a lot of people that are hurt. And there’s a lot of people that I’m sure are not going to be here tomorrow.”

At first, reports said two people died in the blast but Mr Muska hasn’t said how many people have lost their lives in the explosion. Some reports claim the blast might have killed up to 60 people and injured more than 200.  According to NBC News, a nursing home with 133 people inside collapsed from the blast. It is unclear how many people were injured.

According to the CNN, at least 156 people have been hospitalized following the explosion which was so powerful the U.S. Geological Survey registered a tremor of a 2.1. magnitude. About half the population of the town of West, which totals 2,800 people, was evacuated overnight.

Dr. George Smith, West’s emergency management system director, said the death coll could rise to 60 or 70 people.

Lingzi, the last victim identified in the attack, was a Chinese graduate student at Boston University. Initially her name wasn’t revealed by Chinese authorities but on Tuesday a Chinese Consulate General confirmed she was the third victim of the attack.

Krystle Campbell, 29, the second victim of the attack was a restaurant manager. She was born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts, and every year she would attend the Boston marathon’s finish line to cheer on the runners competing in the event. This year she attended the race with her friend Karen survived the attack but is still in hospital with serious injuries.

“She loved being around people. She was a people lover, even as a little girl,” Krystle’s grandmother told The Boston Globe.

Martin Richard, 8,  is the third and youngest victim of the bombings. He died after greeting his father Bill who had just crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Martin’s sister and mother are hospitalised with serious injuries. A vigil at a restaurant in the town of Dorcehester, Mass., was held for the young boy the day of the attack.

“My dear son Martin has died from injuries sustained in the attack on Boston. My wife and daughter are both recovering from serious injuries,” Bill Richard said.

Dunasha Payne, a 21-year-old student from Queens, New York, was arrested and charged with fatally mowing down her boyfriend Monday evening. As The New York Post reports, Payne ran over 26-year-old boyfriend Kaman Drummond in her 1994 Honda Accord in a fit of rage “over another woman.”

Drummond was run over late Monday night at 208th Street and 109th Avenue in Queens Village. People in the nighborhood contacted the police after hearing the man’s cries for help.

By the time cops arrived at the scene, Drummond’s body lay lifeless on the street. Payne was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. A neighbour of the couple was quoted as saying:

They were fighting yesterday. He was in the back yard and she came over in the afternoon. They started hollering and he left. He went down the side street and she was following after him. Down the alley. Tailing him.

Importantly, the person who did this is someone’s friend, neighbor, coworker or relative. We are asking anyone who may have heard someone speak about the marathon, or the date of April 15, in any way that indicated that he or she may have targeted this event to call us.

So far, investigators have grilled a Saudi university student but deny he’s a suspect.

The FBI launched an investigation into the Boston Marathon attack Monday evening but a conspiracy theorist seems to have already figured out who is behind the attack. Alex Jones, one of America’s top right-wing conspiracy theorists, has blamed the government for the attack that took the lives of two adults and a 8-year-old child.

On his radio show, Jones then added that the sudden drop in the price of gold may have been one of the reasons that sparked the attack. “With gold plunging, what could this signify?”, he said. Time journalist Alex Altman, instead, pointed out in a Tweet that the attack on the Boston Marathon was carried out on Patriots Day, which has “significance for militia movement.”

Two brothers

He informed his mother he was badly hurt but couldn’t tell where his older brother was. After two hours of frantic phone calls, Liz found out her other son too had been injured in the blasts and was in a room at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. “I’d never imagined in my wildest dreams this would ever happen,” Liz Norden, a mother of five, said. “I feel sick. I think I could pass out”

The two brothers, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, graduated at Stoneham High School and were currently unemployed. Apparently, they were standing not far from the 8-year-old boy who lost his life in the attack. Mike Jefferson, the man the two brothers had gone to watch, said he was appraoching the finish line when he heard a huge blast and race officials rushing to the scene to stop runners.

In a speech held shortly after the attack, President Barack Obama said: “We will find out who did this; we’ll out why they did this. Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice.”

The blasts occurred after the top racers that took part in the 26.2 mile-course from Hopkinton to Copley Square had already crossed the line. The FBI launched an investigation yesterday evening after the Back Bay was locked down. A Saudi man studying at the University of Boston is being held by authorities.

As Boston Globe reports, he’s cooperating with the police but he isn’t suspected of taking part in the attack. As of last Monady night nobody has been charged by investigators.

Jerome Boykin, a local NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) chief, said:  ‘There is nothing positive about people wearing saggy pants. This is not a black issue, this is not a white issue, this is a people issue… Young men who were in prison who wanted to have sex with other men would send a signal to another man with his pants below his waist.’

Man Shot Twice in The Head

A man in St. Louis managed to drive himself to an area hospital after having been shot twice in the head early Saturday morning.

As Kmov.com reports, the 39-year-old victim was driving his car in Brooklyn, Ill., when a car struck him and left the scene immediately after.

The victim,whose identity hasn’t been released, followed the vehicle. Once they got into St. Louis, the car with the two passengers on board, two black males, one 6’0″ and one with 5’10″ pulled up in an alley.

The passenger reportedly fired multiple gunshots, two of which hit the man in the head. The victim drove himself to a hospital where his injuries are being treated.

The man is in a stable condition.

Giant African Land Snails Invade Florida

The giant African land snail is Florida’s latest problem. They are one of the world’s most invasive species and authorities in South Florida are struggling to find a solution to eradicate yer another invasion of non-native species in the state.

As Reuters reports, the giant mollusk, which in some cases is as big as a rat and it is native to the West African and Caribbean region, was first spotted in South Florida in 2011. Since then, more than 117,000 giant snails have been found and more than 1,000 are caught each week.

Denise Feiber, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Customer Service, said:

“They’re huge, they move around, they look like they’re looking at you … communicating with you, and people enjoy them for that,” Feiber said. “But they don’t realize the devastation they can create if they are released into the environment where they don’t have any natural enemies and they thrive.

Authorities fear the species, which eats “pretty much anything that’s in their path and green”, including stucco and plaster, will bring havoc in Miami-Dade once the rainy season begins in seven weeks time. These snails can lay up to 1,200 eggs a year and carry a parasitic rat lungworm that can pose a health threat to humans.

It is thought that the species of giant snails arrived in Florida around 2010 due to them being used in rituals carried out by a Miami Santeria group, a religion with Caribbean and West African roots.

Anonymous picked up the case and identified the sexual abusers, without hacking into people’s Facebook accounts, in less than two hours. They conducted the investigation based on three reasons that website Inquisitr.com points out :

• Witness testimony – If nothing else, it seems that dozens of teens and adults heard the rapists at least brag about taking part in the Rehtaeh Parsons gang rape.
• EXIF data – since a photo of Rehtaeh’s rape was reportedly circulated among hundreds of students, Anonymous wonders if authorities even bothered to check.
• The school did nothing – they said they didn’t know, but if child pornography is going viral in your hallways, shouldn’t you know?

Anoymous announced they identified the boys in a statement published on @YourAnonNews, one of their many news handles.  The boy’s names will be witheld until an official investigation is re-opened.

Parson was sexually abused by four boys at a party in November 2011. One of the rapists took photos of the abuse which many at her school saw. She began to be branded a “slut” and a “whore” and many boys even began to ask her if she could sleep with them.

The torrent of abuse led her parents to ask the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officials to open an investigation which authorities dropped because they couldn’t collect enough evidence. Parson hung herself and spent three days in intensive care before she died last Sunday.

Minutes after the message was posted, police in Christiansburg received a call informing them about a shooting at New River Community College’s satellite location.

After the shooting, MacInnis was subdued and taken to Montgomery County Jail where he’s being held without bond. He has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm.

Rehtaeh Parsons

Seventeen-year-old Rehtaeh Parson died on Sunday three days after trying to commit suicide. The young Canadian teen was allegedly gang-raped by four classmates in November 2011.

According to a post Rehtaeh’s mother wrote on Facebook, the young girl was raped after consuming lots of vodka at a party. The following morning photos of the rape began to emerge and went viral in the 17-year-old’s “school and community.” 

She broke down in tears in front of her mother a few days after the abuse and contacted the police. After a year of investigations, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) didn’t gather enough evidence to press charges against the four boys and the investigation was dropped.

Parsons moved with her family from Cole Harbour to Halifax but struggled with depression until last Thursday when she tried to take her own life. The young teenager spent three days on life support but died on Sunday.

In a memorial page created for her daughter, Parsons says: “She made my life complete. When Rehtaeh was born, I dedicated everything to her and promised her the world. Others in this world took that away from her.”

Apparently William Blakely used to enjoy terrorizing female motorists by flashing his genitals their way. Three women witnessed Blakely‘s habbits in a Kingsport court. One victim said: “At over 90 miles per hour, he had his penis out [the window]. He was masturbating, [A]nd that’s when it got really, really bad.”

William Blakely used the same technique with every victim. At first he tried to get their attention by honking, once he managed to get it, he took his top off showing his chest and asking the victims to do so as well. Blakely has been charged with indecent exposure, endangerment and attempt to commit aggravated assault.

Toronto Detective Constable Shannon McParland said: “It’s very important (that victims come forward) because if they don’t, then there is no record of it ever happening. … I think he’s very brave.”

The women were dressed in black, high heels and said to be around 5-foot-4 inches tall.

George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were arrested in 2011 following an investigation of sex-abuse allegations. They are believed to have sexually assaulted two boys, one aged 5 and the other aged 15.

The couple will face trial after refusing to enter a plea deal.

As the NY Daily News reports, the couple’s lawyer decided to pull out of the deal that would have given the two men suspended prison sentences and probation. Also prosecutors want to try Harasz, 45, and Wirth, 49, after new allegations surfaced Friday.

But now, three other children are claiming they were also abused, although no new criminal charges had been filed Friday, the Hartford Courant reported. One of the victims who spoke during the court hearing said sexual assault began when he was 6. “They took turns raping me over and over,” he said. “Anyone who would do this to a child is a sick, demented person.”

Prior to the new revelations, Harasz was facing first-degree sexual assault charges while Wirth had been charged with the assault of the 15-year-old boy. One of the coupe’s foster children, Carlos Harasz, said the abuses the accusers suffered have “destroyed a family.”

28-year-old Vladimir Krasnov killed his friend Serget by sticking his foot “up his anus and rectum.” The young man from Nizhny Novgorod killed Sergey, 48, following a fight over his girlfriend Yelena.

As Gawker reports, Krasnov waited until his friend fell asleep to insert his right foot into the man’s anus. Sergey suffered severe internal bleeding and died at the scene. Krasnov could face up to 15 years in jail for the crime.

At a court hearing, Krasnov said he regrets killing his friend and blamed alcohol for the murder. “Nothing like this would happen if I were sober,” he said.

Yelena, Krasnov’s girlfriend, said alcohol led to the killing of Sergey. ”With [Sergei] it was just ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’,” she said.

In the search warrant affidavit, Dr. Fenton claims Holmes began sending her homicidal text messages after “he had stopped” treatments with her. In June 2012, she informed a campus officer about the death threats but it is not known what was done with the information.

Fenton, who branded Holmes a “danger to the public due to homicidal statements”, could face a dozen lawsuits for underestimating the threat the Aurora shooting suspect posed. As the CNN reports, Fenton and the University of Colorado Denver could be sued by 14 people for negligence

Holmes is accused of killing 12 people and injuring 70 in a mass shooting in the July 20 mass shooting at a movie theater in Aurora on the outskirts of Denver. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Holmes.

James Earl Ray was arrested at Heathrow London Airport two months after assassinating Marthin Luther King. He was hoping to reach Africa on a fake Canadian passport when police officers caught him. He was extradited to Tennessee and charged with murder. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison despite his case never going to trial. He died in prison in 1998.

A statement issued by Shelby County Register said: “It is believed that the personnel using the equipment were learning how to operate this technology as they recorded. As a result, the footage is not always as clear as we are accustomed to seeing today.”

Krystal Hensley, the young girl’s mother, says her daughter takes a bath every day but her bad smell disturbs the other students in the classroom forcing teachers to suspend her three times in October twice in December, once in February and once last week, writes Arbroath.com.

Teachers have suspended the girl in an attempt to force the girl and her mother to adress the bad smell.

The first suspension notice read: “We have made repeated attempts to address a foul odor that (name) has been {emitting}.  This is not being resolved. Other students and teachers are complaining, saying that they can not focus on school activities. We are taking this action because this is disruptive to the school program. If corrective measures are not taken then suspensions will continue.”

Krystal Hensley says her daughter shouldn’t be sent home so often. “You go to school to learn, not to be sent home,” she said.

Clarence Mabe, the Washington County Board of Education Chairman, has vowed to talk with the superintendent and come up with a solution. “I’ll definitely talk to him and see, because every kid’s important. I don’t know the answer, but we can ask the question and hopefully, somebady can help us,” he said.

A citizen contacted the local police department claiming he had heard a human voice calling for help. Deputies at the Putnam Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene to find out that the cries were nothing more than the yells of a distressed goat tied to a fence.

In the official incident report, Will Page of the Putnam Sheriff’s Department wrote: “We could hear what appeared to be a man screaming for help in the direction of a residence on Jackson Passage north of Edwards Lane. It was actually coming from a goat that was tied to a fence.”

6-month-old Autumn Carter of Mansfield, Ohio, has been raped to death back in 1998, when the now convicted Steven Smith was too drunk to realize that his sexual assault was killing the baby. The murder took place in the then 19 year-old girl’s mother, Kaysha Frye, apartment. Smith and Frye had been dating for about six months. On the night of the murder a naked Steven Smith woke up Frye after 3am to put Autumn beside her in bed. At the time the mother Frye realized that the girl was dead and not breathing and rushed to the neighbor’s house to ask for help. When he was tested at 11am, 8 hours after the accident, Smith had a blood-alchohol content of .123 way above the legal limit.

Evidence shows that Smith‘s attack lasted roughly 30 minutes and the cause of the baby’s death might be suffocation since he lay on top of her for 3 to 5 minutes.

According to Ohio law a death sentence is expected when there is an intent to kill the victim. To defend Steven Smith, his attorneys, Joseph Wilhelm and Tyson Flemin, wrote in an argument for the board:

‘The evidence suggests that Autumn‘s death was a horrible accident. Despite the shocking nature of this crime, Steve‘s death sentence should be commuted because genuine doubts exist whether he even committed a capital offense.’

On the other hand, the prosecutor James Mayer claims that Steven Smith is only hiding behind alcohol and that the injuries found on Autumn’s body left no room for doubt and his real intent was obviously murdering the poor baby. He said: ‘The horrific attack upon Autumn Carter showed much more than Smith‘s stated purpose’

James Holmes

James Holmes’s prosecutors have turned down the offer brought forward by his defence lawyers and are still seeking the death penalty for the Aurora shooting suspect.

George Brauchler, Araphoe County district attorney, said at a hearing Monday: ““It’s my determination and my intention that in this case for James Eagan Holmes justice is death.” He added he made the decision after speaking with 60 relatives of the former student’s victims.

Five days ago, lawyers for the former PhD student had offered prosecutors to plead guilty in an attempt to have Holmes’ life spared and avoid execution, writes NY Daily News. Holmes’ lawyers are arguing that he went on a shooting spree because he’s mentally insane.

Holmes killed 12 people and injured 70 at the screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” last July. If the case goes to trial, it would be years before a verdict is reached.

“It could be 10 or 15 years before he’s executed. I would be in my 40s and I’m planning to have a family, and the thought of having to look back and reliving everything at that point in my life, it would be difficult,” said Pierce O’Farrill, one of the people injured in the shooting.

Doctors at a hospital in Tampa failed to reattach the finger of an 11-year-old boy whose dog bit it off whilst playing in his back yard. Fernando Brignoni was playing with Sassy, a seven-year-old Malumite-wolf, when the dog bit off and swallowed his left little finger.

The boy’s father, Luis Brignoni, rushed outside after he saw Fernando’s 13-year-old brother hit Sassy over the head with a stick. When Luis got in the back yard, the dog had released its grip and swallowed his 11-year-old son’s left digit. Mr Brignoni didn’t think twice. “I got my gun and I popped him,” he said.

The father contacted the police. He then cut open the dog’s stomach with a knife, retrieved the boy’s finger with the help of a sheriff deputy and sent it with his injured son to Tampa General Hospital. Doctors performed surgery on Fernando but failed to reattach the little finger because it was too damaged, reports The Guardian.

Luis Brignoni, a landscape gardner, said killing seven-year-old Sassy was really tough. “But my son comes before any animal, and at that moment it was just like: get it now or it’s gone,” he said.

In 2008, the Texas man was painting the outside of the church he exchanged vows with his wife when he touched a power line, reports Kwtx.com. Wiens suffered facial injuries and was also blinded in the accident. He underwent a full facial transplant in 2011 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Nash also suffered severe injuries on her body following a 2010 traffic accident that left her with burns on her hands and back. The wedding at Ridglea Baptist Church was attended by 200 people.

ADA, UNITED STATES – A suspect arrested was hiding a loaded gun in her vagina and bags of meth up her butt. Christie Dawn Harris, 28, was searched by a female officer who spotted the handle of the gun hanging out from Christie‘s vagina and plastic bags sticking out from her butt.

The officers were shocked when they found a .22-caliber loaded handgun and plastic bags containing methamphetamine. Christie Dawn Harris was stopped whilst she was parked outside a closed restaurant in a car with Jennifer Delancy. Harris was asked by the police if there were any drugs in the car and she said she did not think there were any. The police found: meth, drug paraphernalia, a pistol, and a loaded magazine. Both Harris and Delancy were arrested.

Then the shocking findings, whilst on the way to jail Harris said to the police she had to go to the toilet urgently several times. Then Harris was told to wear jail clothing and the police told her to take off her clothes, but she refused to lower her underwear because she claimed she was on her period and did not want to.

Eventually Harris was forced to comply with police’s order. The female officer, Kathy Unbewust, said: “I observed at that time a wooden and metal item sticking out from her vagina area.” She added: “pulled the item from her vagina, and found it to be a 5 shot revolver with rounds in the chamber.”

James Holmes Guilty Plea Offer Rejected

Jomes E. Holmes’ guilty plea offer has been rejected by prosecutors. According to a court filing released Wednsesday, the former PhD student offered to plead guilty to avoid the death penalty. Prosecutors shunned the offer claiming the move by James Holmes’ lawyers was a ploy to draw media attention and that negotiations should have remained private.

As the LA Times reports, the Aurora shooting suspect was ready to plead guilty to the killing of 12 people at a movie theater in Aurora, Denver, if prosecutors refused to seek the death penalty. The defence forwarded the request arguing that Holmes went on a shooting spree because he was legally insane.

On Thursday, however, the offer was turned down by prosecutors citing Holmes’ attorneys’ reluctance to release key information. Prosecutors stated yesterday an agreement is “extremely unlikely based on the present information available to the prosecution.”

Florida teenager nearly goes blind

A Florida teenager almost lost her eyesight due to a microscopic parasite that spread through her contact lenses. Ashley Hyde, 18, couldn’t understand why she would often go to the optician with a problem to her left eye.

After several unsuccessful treatments, doctors found that a bacteria known as acanthamoeba, which can spread through contact lens use, was the reason of her blurred vision.  In order to get rid of the bacteria that could have cost the eyesight of the young teenager from Pembroke Pines, Florida, doctors had to drill into her eye, reports The Daily Mail.  The parasite was eating through the young girl’s cornea.

Dr. Adam Clarin told Local 10 people who wear contact lenses should always throw them out at the end of the day and use a new pair the next day. “Every day, we see people come in with contact lenses related to infections, complication,ulcers,” he said.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A suspended Roman Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Bridgeport may plead guilty to possessing metamphetamine. Kevin Wallin, 61, is accused of making more than $300,000 from a drug ring he ran with four other people.

“Monsignor Meth”, as he was branded, was the pastor of St. Augustine Parish in Bridgeport for nine years until he was forced to resign in July 2011, reports NY Daily News. According to prosecutors, Wallin had metaphetamine mailed from California to his Waterbury apartment. He then sold the drug with the help of four other people.

With the money he made, “Monsignor Meth” bought a sex toy shop in the town of North Haven. The suspended priest was arrested by undercover police officers on January 3. The charges were pressed against him on January 15.

Wallin was arrested and charged with one count of conspiracy of selling meth and a substance containing the drug. The charge, which is the one Wallin intends to plead guilty, could land him in jail for up to 10 years. Wallin has also been cahrged with six conts of possession with intent to distribute meth.

Six years later, a highschool friend sent her a message on Facebook telling her his wife had found a story on a Hawaiian website about an underwater camera that washed up on a beach in Taiwan. The camera turned out to be hers. It was found by a China Airlines employee and “the pictures are still on the memory card.”  

“China Airlines has offered to pay for me to go out there and my room, board and my food and everything. An all expenses paid trip to come out there and get my camera back and meet the guy that found it. It’s been a wild ride,” Scallan said.

Florida teenager nearly goes blind

A Florida teenager almost lost her eyesight due to a microscopic parasite that spread through her contact lenses. Ashley Hyde, 18, couldn’t understand why she would often go to the optician with a problem to her left eye.

After several unsuccessful treatments, doctors found that a bacteria known as acanthamoeba, which can spread through contact lens use, was the reason of her blurred vision.  In order to get rid of the bacteria that could have cost the eyesight of the young teenager from Pembroke Pines, Florida, doctors had to drill into her eye, reports The Daily Mail.  The parasite was eating through the young girl’s cornea.

Dr. Adam Clarin told Local 10 people who wear contact lenses should always throw them out at the end of the day and use a new pair the next day. “Every day, we see people come in with contact lenses related to infections, complication,ulcers,” he said.

As The LA Times reports, the former PhD student has been charged with 166 counts of first-degree murder in connection with his shooting spreee in a movie theather on the outskirts of Denver. Holmes had dressed up like The Joker and opened fire on the crowd at the premier of the movie ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ on July 20, 2012. 

The former student’s lawyers are trying to convince the court to spare the young man’s life by claiming he’s insane. If the court finds he suffers from a mental illness, the court could not sentence him to death. So far, only three people are on death row in the State of Colorado.

Brazilian doctor accused of killing more than 300 patients

A Brazilian doctor is believed to have killed up to 300 patients. Virginia Soares de Souza is a doctor in the Evangelica Hospital in the Brazilian city of Curitiba accused of administering lethal muscle-relaxing drugs to patients on life-support to free up beds.

As The Guardian reports, authorities have charged her with the murder of seven patients but Brazil’s Ministry of Health thinks she has killed many more. Prosecutors claim Soares injected the drug Pavulon in the victims after dialling down “the oxygen on their respirators.” The doctor was arrested in February but denies any wrongdoing.

Mario Lobato, who’s leading the investigation, was quoted as saying: “There are 20 cases which have already been closed, and we have nearly 300 cases still open which we are looking at. In each case, the testimony of people who worked inside the hospital confirmed what we have found on the patient records.”

Elias Mattar Assad, De Souza’s lawyer,  said: “We will soon prove that everything that happened in that ICU was justified by medical procedure.”

Knox issued a statement through a family spokesman shortly after the ruling. The statement said:

It was painful to receive the news that the Italian Supreme Court decided to send my case back for revision when the prosecution’s theory of my involvement in Meredith’s murder has been repeatedly revealed to be completely unfounded and unfair.

It is not known the reason that led Italy’s Court of Cassation to re-trial Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito over the 2007 killing of the 21-year-old British student. The court’s full ruling will be released within three months time.

Knox and her ex-boyfriend are accused of slashing Kercher’s throat during a sex game in her apartment in the town of Perugia. Knox and Sollecito have always denied any wrongdoing. Rudy Guede, a man from the Ivory Coast, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for the murder of the British student.

NEW YORK – CCTV footage showed a man who tried to stop a robbery and ended up getting shot dead. The robbery took place on Saturday night and the 29 year-old man was buried on Monday.

It is still unclear who were the suspects involved in the crime, but they are thought to be teenagers. The 29-year-old man got killed as he was trying to defend his father’s market the Imperial Garden Suburb in the city of Sinop.

Enraged by Morales’ decision, the man went over to her house one last time, pulled a knife from his sock and attacked her. “He started attacking me immediately and didn’t even give me time to react,” she said. Morales was stabbed a “dozen of times” and forced to undergo plastic surgeries. 

The surgeries were carried out by Face to Face, a charitable organization. Doctors used ‘flap surgery’ to cover the woman’s scars. It’s a technique which takes skin from other parts of the body to cover a patient’s scars. The man was arrested and is now serving a 15-year prison sentence.

The boy was fairly popular at the school, it has been reported, but he was depressed and had already talked about his intention to commit suicide. Apparently, he was being bullied at school and his parents were going through a divorce. The school was locked down for a while before parents were told to pick up their children.

An escort in Orlando was jailed and charged with attempted murder for nearly ripping a man’s penis off with her teeth. Police arrived at an Orange County hotel, Orlando, Florida, Tuesday morning after 911 callers heard screams coming from the room where Priscilla Vaughn was.

They arrived at the hotel and opened the room’s door to find the 29-year-old woman with her mouth covered in blood and the man sleeping with her with significant bites to his penis and testicles, reports Orlando Sentinel. According to a police report, the couple were having consensual sex when Priscilla “began to bite the man’s genitals” as if she “were trying to eat his” manhood.  

The man tried to free himself but the escort’s hold on his penis was too strong and “could not get her off”. Priscilla even got rid of the man’s mobile phone so he could not get in touch with the police.

After the cops arrived, the man, whose identity hasn’t been released, was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center trauma center. Priscilla was taken into custody and charged with attempted second-degree murder, false imprisonment and tampering with the victim’s ability to contact law enforcement.   The 29-year-old was jailed without bail.

T.J. Lane shows Killer T-Shirt at Sentencing

A 18-year-old responsible for the killing of three teenage boys at his school showed a white T-shirt with “KILLER” written across it when a judge gave him three life sentences. T.J. Lane killed three boys when he went on a gun rampage outside Chardon High School in Cleveland in February 2012.

The judge gave no possibility of parole to the 17-year-old. The killer took the lives of 16-year-olds Daniel Parmertor and Demetrius Hewlin, and 17-year-old Russell King junior with a .22 calibre pistol.

Lane, who injured three other boys in the rampage, smirked as the verdict was being handed down. He showed his middle finger to the families of the victims and said: “”This hand that pulled the trigger that killed your sons now m*sturb*tes the memory. F*** all of you.”

Swiss healer accused of infecting 16 people with HIV virus

A Swiss man who claimed to be a healer was arrested by local police Friday afternoon. The man is accused of infecting 16 people with HIV between 2001 and 2005.

Maurice Goeller, 53, is believed to have spread the disease through needle sticks he used during illegal acupuncture sessions. Goeller is a music teacher and many of the people he infected were students who attended his classes, reports Atlanta Cbs local.

The illegal acupuncture sessions were uncovered after Thomas Kaiser was diagnosed with the HIV virus. An investigation was launched after Kaiser told doctors he could only have been infected during Mr. Goeller’s sessions.

The investigation found 15 other people had been infected with the virus. Goeller claims he’s innocent.

Canada Prison Escape

Two inmates escaped from a Quebec prison Sunday afternoon by holding on to ropes hanging from a helicopter.  Benjamin Hudon-Barbeau, 36, and Danny Provencal, 33, managed to fly away from the prison in Saint-Jerome, northwest of Montreal, with the help of two accomplices.

The helicopter was tracked about 50 miles from the prison and police officers have interviewed the pilot. As Gawker reports, the pilot was hired by two people Sunday afternoon and was forced to head for the prison when one of the passengers put a gun to his head.

The pilot isn’t one of the two accomplices.

Police have arrested one of the two escaped inmates - Benjamin Hudon-Barbeau – while the other one - Danny Provencal – is surrounded. Quebec police spokesman Benoit Richard said they are negotiating with the suspect. Both escapee inmates are believed to have ties with the Hells Angels.
