LONDON, England – Amy Winehouse’s dad told last night of his diappointment when he found out that the coroner who led the inquest on his daughter’s death was not fully qualified. Mitch Winehouse told The Sun that he and his former wife Janis were shocked when they were informed that the coroner’s credentials weren’t fully checked. “You’d assume this sort of thing can’t happen,” said Mitch.

A new hearing could be arranged though the verdict doesn’t seem to be in any doubt.

Coroner Suzanne Greenway was appointed to the job by the Inner North London Coroner, Dr Andrew Reid, who is also her husband. Under the current law, coroners can be appointed if they have been in the Law Society as a solicitor for at least five years. Ms Greenway joined two-and-a-half years ago and 30 other “inquests she presided could be declared illegal,” reports The Sun.
