BEIRUT – The Syrian town of Homs is under siege and dozens of people are said to have been killed by activists in the restive city. Details about the bloodshed emerged on Friday when two activist groups said the death toll was at least 35.
The reports could not be confirmed. The city, reports The AP, has been rocked “by sectarian killings, gunfire and explosions for much of Thursday.” The Syrian uprising began last March with largely peaceful anti-government protests, but it has grown increasingly militarized in recent months.
